New Moodle Blocks “Zoom” / “MS Teams” in each Moodle course (28-08-2020)

Dear instructors (Moodle course teachers, teaching assistants, course administrators and departmental course administrators),

To better support online & blended teaching and learning in the new academic year 2020-21, we are pleased to inform you that two new Moodle Blocks are created under each Moodle course for instructors to conduct online classes via Zoom or Microsoft Teams (Teams).   The Blocks are shown at the top of the right-hand column of a Moodle course webpage.

The primary instructor of a course, after deciding to use Zoom or Teams for the online classes, please do a one-time activation of the chosen Block.  A Zoom or Teams meeting link will be created in the Block. It is valid throughout the semester.

Then according to the scheduled time-table, any instructor can start an online class by clicking the meeting link and students can join the meeting via the link or QR code shown in the Moodle Block. This can save the effort of instructors in setting up the online meetings and sending students the meeting links.

The primary instructor who first login/create meetings will be assigned as the meeting host (on Zoom) or organizer (on Teams).  Please follow the following user guides to activate the chosen Zoom or Teams Moodle Block and prepare for your online classes:
