Message from Academic Advising Office of the Registry

Integrating Online Advising Experience to Enrich Student Advising Skills Date: 17 June, 2021 (Thursday) Time: 12:45 pm to 2:00 pm Venue: To be conducted via Zoom (Zoom link to be provided upon registration)
Why this sharing session? Over the past semesters, online T&L has presented endless challenges to test our ability to deliver effective advising and support to students in a flexible, creative and engaging manner. With improving situation of COVID 19 in Hong Kong, the University will soon return to face-to-face T&L. It is a good time to review and integrate useful skills into our advising practice as we move forward to a “new normal” beyond the pandemic. Specifically, we will look at some of the aspects that are most critical during the online T&L period:
- How to engage and interact with your advisees
- How to listen and give feedback to help weak students stay on track
- How to advise students with poor learning motivation and time management skill
- How to support advisees in stress and those with special educational needs
This online sharing session provides an opportunity for Faculty Academic Advisers, teachers and colleagues to discuss observations, share advising experience and exchange ideas on how to better support students in the new academic year. The ideas shared would be used by AAO to develop new advising resources for future reference.
Who will speak and share?
- Experienced Faculty Academic Advisers
